ASTRONOMY
QUARTER 1
Unit1 : In the first quarter, the teacher, Mr.Gopinath Subramanian, started the quarter by teaching the students about the fundamental information about astronomy which was about the scale of the cosmos, relative distance, basic unit of measure. We studied about the earth, sun, and star constellations. Also, it included the calculation about parsec which is used to calculate the distance of the stars. In my opinion, I think that I learned a lot in this quarter because everything was new to me ,and I think that all the lessons open the world for me since I haven't thought that the galaxy is big like this before.
Unit 2 : In this unit, it is about the sky, overview of observation terms, such as Azimuth, Zenith, Perihelions, and what causes the seasons. We started learning about more constellations which were circumpolar constellations, summer constellations etc. Also, I more learned about binary stars system which is about 2 stars of unequal brightness revolving around the center point. One of the most important lessons was about astronomical coordinate system which is used to indicate the star's position and time.
Unit 3 : Unit 3 : In this unit, we focused more on the information of the moon which consists of cycle of the moon, path that the moon takes, initial observations of the moon, phrases, and eclipses. Moreover, it includes the fact about temperature and atmosphere. Also, we applied our knowledge to the real word and used our critical thinking skill to think about the advantages and disadvantages in living in the moon. For example, the pros are there are no moonquakes and gravity is weak, but the cons are it is hard to communicate because it has no sound and no resources (water). I think that the lesson were so valuable for me because I got to know more about the moon. Furthermore, I learned about solar and luna eclipses. We did the project on poster about this so that we needed to do some research to accomplish the project.

Unit 4 : This is the last unit of the first quarter. The teacher taught about the origin of modern astronomy, historical perspective, early ancient astronomers such as Copernicus, Brahe, and Kepler. At first, we learned about historical timeline about the beginning of calendar and studied about Claudius Ptolemy. Moreover, after learning tons of facts and information, I started learning about Kepler's Law.

Project : This is what we called 'Planet sphere'. First, the teacher gave us the template of the planet sphere, then he let the students cut it and glue it. The purpose of doing this was to learn about astronomical coordinate system because this can indicate the time and place which we can see the stars. Therefore, I can use this sphere to see the star that I want.
QUARTER 2
In this quarter, we started lesson by studying about various types of telescope such as Newtonian Reflector. Then, the teacher assigned us a project that was creating sun dial. Therefore, to start the project, I and my group did some researches about it ,and we separate the role in the group which for my part, I did the lab report and presentation. After reading thousands of knowledge and information, I started thinking and writing the report. When everything was done, I checked them all and prepared about presentation.
ESLOs
Innovative thinker : creative thinker
I chose this ESLO because I think that through the semester, I had to think, write, and do a lot. For example, in the first quarter, the teacher usually gave the students to do an assignment about writing brief essays about what we learned, and in the second quarter, since I and my friends need to do the project about sun dial, I need to use my creativity to design my sundial and use my knowledge to write the lab report.
strategic learner : manage time well
Because of Sun Dial project in the second quarter, I think that it was a huge project at school which I needed to put a lot of afford and responsibility, plus I also had my college exam. Therefore, I needed to set the schedule and manage my time very well.
