quarter 1
In the first quarter, we studied about literary analysis which we began the quarter by learning about 4 major movement in literary world that are Imagism, Metaphysical Poets, Modernism, and Objectivists. Also, we had William Carlos Williams as our mentor that we read and learn his writing styles from many of his poems such as "The Red Wheelbarrow" and "Nantucket" ,and we learned about 3 important vocabularies which are disillusionment, alienation, and fragmentation that made us understand more about the movements and the poems. After the students were familiar with these terms, the teacher Mr.Matthew Bishop started introducing us about TIQA paragraph since we needed it for our final essay, and we also learned how to write the topic sentences and cite the quotes properly and correctly. During the quarter, we needed to write our own poem once a week;therefore, Mr.Bishop taught us about the components in composing a poem:line-breaks, sound, simile, and mood. After the students learned every necessary information, they started doing the project.

Quarter 1 final project
For the final project, I had to write an essay about William Carlos Williams' poem, compose my own poem based on Williams' style, and write the reflection. After I had learned a lot about Williams and his writing style, we decided to write an essay about how he uses irony to contrast emotion and action. I chose two of his poem which were "Complaint" and "Danse Russe" because I thought that these poems had distinct indications that Williams uses the contradiction. By writing the essay, I followed the structure of TIQA paragraph which I had learned trough the quarter. After I had finished my essay, I started writing my poem called "Jungfraujoch" which I described my traveling experience based on the structure of "Nantucket". Lastly, when everything had done, I did my reflection.

Moreover, since we needed to write and research essay, we also studied about how to write the essay correctly which we began with what paragraph is and the components of the introductory, body, and conclusive paragraph. While learning about the essay, we learned about Marxist Theory which is about how the economy influences society, included vocabularies such as exploitation and bourgeoisie, and Psychoanalytical Theory to understand people's mind, included conscious, subconscious ,and unconscious mind. To do the essay, the teacher let us read a book which related to these theory and I chose to read Animal Farm by George Orwell.

quarter 2 final project
As I read the Animal Farm, I also needed to think about my essay. Fortunately, Mr.Bishop assigned the students to do the note taking sheet every week which made me understand more about my book and had an idea about writing. Also, to make sure that everyone understand the story, there is a literature circle every week which gave an opportunities for students to talk, discuss, and ask about the story in the book which in my opinion, it really helped me in writing the essay. In this project, I decided to do the research essay about paralleling Animal Farm with Russian Revolution as it can be indicated from the characters' goal, relationship, and behavior. Significantly, I needed to do the researches about Russian Revolution which were based on strong sources and cited with APA format.
